How to sign in to BBC iPlayer on TV
To sign in to BBC iPlayer on your TV, follow these steps:
- First, ensure you have a BBC account. You can use an existing one, or if you don’t have a BBC account, you can register at bbc.com/register.
- You’ll need a second device, such as a mobile, tablet, computer, or laptop, to enter the code shown on your TV. If you don’t have a second device, skip to step 4 below for alternative instructions.
- On your TV, open the BBC iPlayer application and select “Sign In.”
- You’ll see a screen on your TV displaying a URL and a six-digit code.
- On your second device (mobile/tablet/computer), open your internet browser and go to bbc.com/tvcode.
- Enter the six-digit activation code displayed on your TV screen into the corresponding field on the web page and select ‘Sign in on your TV’.
- Confirm your account details by entering your BBC account email address and password, then select ‘Sign in’.
- Wait a few seconds for your TV to update, and you should be signed into BBC iPlayer on your TV.
Note: Activation codes expire after 60 minutes, and only one person can use an activation code. If you encounter any issues, you may need to try again later or follow the TV troubleshooting steps provided by BBC iPlayer support. Furthermore, the sign-in feature isn’t available on all TVs due to software and technology variations.
What if I don’t have a mobile, tablet, or computer?
If you don’t have a second device, but you do have a telephone, you can still use BBC iPlayer on your TV:
- Open the BBC iPlayer application on your TV.
- On the sign-in screen, select ‘I don’t have a mobile or computer.’
- Follow the on-screen instructions to get access to BBC iPlayer.
Remember that this option is only available for connected TV devices.
